Preplanning A Funeral
In addition to providing our services and facilities for at need arrangements, we also want to make you aware of the benefits of funeral preplanning. Many families have told us they prefer to make their arrangements in advance. This allows them to discuss their wishes, and make important choices at a time that is much less stressful. Prefunding funeral arrangements can also be an important part of prudent estate planning. We offer funeral planning options as a benefit to families both personally and financially.
If you elect to pay for a funeral in advance, the price of the service and merchandise are guaranteed. You are essentially paying for a funeral at today’s price, even though the need might not occur for many years. We know that buying this pre need funding plan is not like buying a television. You can’ t see it working for you every day, but it is doing just that. It reacts more like a smoke alarm. Hopefully it will sit quietly for many years. But when the time of need comes, it immediately becomes the most important object in your home. Your family will be thankful that you had the foresight to plan and purchase your own funeral.
You may wish to determine
- Visitation hours
- Place of funeral service
- Decide between a funeral service and a cremation service
- Select a casket or urn
- Choose your music, favorite song, and special picture for memorial service folders
- Record readings, pallbearers, officiant, and any other choice that is typically made during time of death arrangements
- It is also helpful to just record your statistical information that will be used for state and other paperwork after a death
Other things to consider when pre-planning your funeral service are to make a record of bank accounts, insurance policies, and other savings or benefits that are entitled to you or your family. Make sure to save this in a secure location, but also notify those you wish to know, where you will keep this information should they need it. To make this consolidation of information easier for you, during pre-planning we will provide you with a Personal Arrangement Guide booklet to record all this information within. It will help to ensure that the things you worked and planned for during life, will be properly received by your beneficiaries.
Once your pre-planned funeral service has been completed, we will keep a copy of it on file. When the time of need arises, a call to our funeral home will enable us to proceed with what was planned. Your loved one's will be relieved to know they don't have to go through the funeral arrangement process from the beginning.
Below is a printable form we have put together to help you get started with your pre-arrangements. It does not cover all aspects of pre-planning a funeral service, as each person will have different requests and choices, but rather to help you start pulling your ideas together. We would be honored to assist with any questions you may have. Please feel free to call one of our locations for assistance.
If you would like to contact us regarding your arrangements, please fill out as much information as you feel comfortable with on our online preneed form.
